What is the sealing principle of PVC seal?

As a sealing material widely used in many fields such as construction, automobiles, and electrical appliances, the sealing principle of PVC seal is based on various characteristics and designs.
PVC material itself has certain flexibility and elasticity. When the sealing strip is installed at the gap or interface that needs to be sealed, it can adapt to the shape and size of the gap. For example, at the door and window frame, PVC seal can be tightly filled in the gap between the window frame and the glass, the window frame and the wall with its elasticity, effectively preventing the passage of air, rain, dust, etc. Its elastic deformation ability makes it not easily break or lose its sealing effect when squeezed, but can maintain a stable sealing state within a certain pressure range.
The unique cross-sectional shape design of PVC seal also plays a key role in sealing. Common shapes include D-shaped, P-shaped, O-shaped, etc. Take the D-shaped as an example, its flat side can fit firmly on the plane, while the curved side can better contact with the other sealing surface and form a sealing line. When the doors and windows are closed, the arc part of the D-shaped sealing strip is squeezed and deformed, and it is in close contact with the door and window frames and the glass surface, forming a continuous sealing barrier. This design greatly increases the reliability and effectiveness of the seal. Different cross-sectional shapes are suitable for different sealing scenarios and can be accurately matched according to specific sealing requirements.
In addition, the microstructure of the surface of the PVC seal also helps with sealing. Its surface is not absolutely smooth, but there are some tiny bumps and textures. When in contact with the sealing surface, these microstructures can increase friction and contact area, further preventing gas or liquid leakage. At the same time, the intermolecular force of the PVC material also plays an auxiliary role in sealing to a certain extent, which enables the sealing strip to better combine with the sealing surface at the microscopic level, enhancing the overall sealing effect.
In the long-term use process, the weather resistance and stability of the PVC seal ensure the durability of its sealing performance. Even under external environmental factors such as temperature changes, ultraviolet radiation, humidity and other conditions, it can still maintain its elasticity, shape and sealing performance, and continue to provide reliable sealing protection for various equipment and structures, thereby effectively extending the service life of related products and improving their performance.
